Digital artists, or aspiring ones, will find camaraderie at Wired Wednesday. This month's meeting at Paradise Salon Spa Wellness will cover the upcoming City Wide Film-making Competition.

As part of FoodMaxx’s entry into the Nevada marketplace with new stores in Carson City and Sparks, the grocery chain held an online sweepstakes, encouraging shoppers at both stores to register at FoodMaxx.com to receive email-only weekly specials. The contest ran from Nov. 16 through Dec. 27.

What Works: New Year, Now What?

I believe I felt a collective sigh of relief when 2016 left and 2017 made its grand entrance. The new year is filled with so much hope, promise, and delight. Yet, I was disappointed when I opened Facebook the other day and one person stated that 2017 is already proving to be just like 2016 for them.

Free training program for care givers of elderly veterans and others

The Nevada Department of Veterans Services will be sponsoring two FREE comprehensive training programs to assist those caring for aging veterans, including those living in eldercare communities.

The programs are called "Bravo Zulu: Achieving Excellence in Relationship-Centered Care." They're designed to give care partners of veterans a better understanding of military culture as well as the influence and impact of military service experiences on the healthcare needs of aging veterans.

Save Mart Supermarkets in Carson City will match in-store donations Friday to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center.

For the past month, Carson City shoppers have been able to donate to Ron Wood at checkout through Save Mart Companies' "Give.Share.CARE! Holiday Drive," said company spokeswoman Nanette Miranda.

WNC Main Gallery to Show ‘Dirty Diapers/Rabbit Ears’ through Feb. 3
