GENOA, Nev. — Mormon Station State Historic Park is offering a number of exciting interpretive programs this August. Join park staff in the heart of the Genoa National Historic District for history talks, cooking classes, guided walks, and children’s arts and crafts activities.

The countdown to the weekend begins as we head into midweek, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 with daytime highs in the low 90s and plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. Topping the list is the Northern Nevada Development Authority's Legislative Roundup at Casino Fandango. If you want to know how this year's legislative session will affect business, be there. For those who look to the stars for the big picture, there's a multi-media hands on science day presentation at the Nevada State Museum as part of the Apollo 11 moon landing celebration; then there's Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center and lots more. A year-long program that has proven to be effective in eliminating the risk of diabetes.

Deputies arrested three Carson residents Friday evening in the 2800 block of Bel Air Way on felony possession of controlled substance among other offenses.

According to the report, Special Enforcement Team deputies arrested Gregory Dee Shoemaker, Nicole Iona Contreras and Devin Edward Keller after receiving multiple drug complaints about a residence.

Mormon Station is located in the heart of the Genoa National Historic District, which encompasses over 25 structures and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This 5 day program is designed for middle- and high-school students, ages 12-17. It will provide an introduction to coding, with a focus on HTML. Students will complete a coding project by the end of the week, and will receive a certificate of completion.

A 23-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning in the 300 block of East William Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, a Carson City sheriff's report said.

Capitol City Poker Run to benefit Muscle Powered will take place this Saturday, July 6 in Carson City. This is a bicycle “poker" ride that will start at Silver Strike CrossFit and will ride throughout Carson City.

All proceeds benefit Muscle Powered. Best Poker hand at the end of the ride will win a bike from the Bike Smith. Raffle prizes and Grand Prize to be announced at Silver Strike CrossFit where a good truck will also be present.

Carson City Symphony Association’s “Strings in the Summer,” a free program for string-instrument players of all ages, will begin on Monday morning, July 8, 2019. Laura Gibson, Associate Concertmaster of Carson City Symphony, is the instructor and conductor. Registration and tuition are free, donations welcome.

The third and final day of Carson City Off-Road cruises to downtown Carson City with Pro Men and Women Backcountry races starting at 7:30 a.m. Muscle Powered will hold its weekly Sunday bicycle ride at Fremont Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
