Carson City deputies arrest three in felony drug bust
Deputies arrested three Carson residents Friday evening in the 2800 block of Bel Air Way on felony possession of controlled substance among other offenses.
According to the report, Special Enforcement Team deputies arrested Gregory Dee Shoemaker, Nicole Iona Contreras and Devin Edward Keller after receiving multiple drug complaints about a residence.
Through research into the residence, SET deputies determined that the homeowner, Shoemaker, had a warrant issued for his arrest. While watching the residence, they saw Shoemaker come outside and begin to water his lawn. Deputies spoke with Shoemaker and informed him he had a warrant.
While speaking with Shoemaker, deputies observed another man "peek his head" out the front door before quickly returning inside. Deputies did not recognize the man at first and asked Shoemaker who he was. Shoemaker said his name was Don, and that he was the neighbor.
Shoemaker became agitated and begin using profanities with deputies. He was placed into handcuffs.
While speaking with Shoemaker in the front yard while awaiting transport, he changed his story and said no one was inside the residence. Deputies noted that Shoemaker exhibited signs and symptoms of methamphetamine use including rapid mood changes, dialated pupils, rigid muscle tone and blood shot eyes.
Deputies then realized who the man inside was, which was Devin Keller, who had a warrant out for his arrest. Shortly after, Nicole Contreras exited the residence and also said no one else was inside.
Deputies confronted Contreras, who eventually admitted Keller was inside. She also exhibited signs of methamphetamine use.
Another deputy began yelling at someone in the west yard of the residence and it was determined Keller was attempting to flee. A deputy drew his weapon and held him in the backyard until other deputies could come and assist.
He was taken into custody.
Deputies then conducted a "protective sweep" of the residence due to so much commotion including slamming doors and dogs barking. Inside an RV on the residence, deputies located a blue mirror with methamphetamine on the surface, and inside the main residence they located a plate with methamphetamine on the surface.
Deputies spoke with Keller, who admitted he had been living in the RV in the backyard with his girlfriend, Contreras, for about three days. He admitted they both used methamphetamine. He said there would likely be paraphernalia inside as well.
Contreras confirmed to living in the RV and using methamphetamine with Keller. She said the mirror belonged to her.
Six dogs were taken into animal control custody and the three were taken to the jail without incident.
