Carson City sheriff's recent bookings: Deputies make DUI, drug and warrant arrests

A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 7:19 p.m. in the 3600 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, hit and run causing property damage and failure to maintain a lane of traffic, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a single vehicle crash in which the vehicle went hrough the fence at Glen Eagles.

Deputies caught up with the man in the parking lot of Save Mart on North Carson Street. The arresting deputy could smell a moderate odor of alcohol and asked the man if he would submit to field sobriety tests, the arrest report states. The man agreed and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He was asked to provide a preliminary breath test where he initially refused, the arrest report states.

He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. He later advised that he would provide a breath sample on a PBT and provided a partial breath sample that showed he was above the legal limit. At jail he refused evidentiary testing. A telephonic search warrant was applied for and was approved by a Carson City judge. A blood draw was conducted. Bail: $1,861.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 1:24 a.m. in the area of I-580 and Arrowhead Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and basic speeding, 90 mph in a posted 65 mph zone, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy was patrolling the area of Fifth Street Bridge and confirmed a vehicle with radar going 90 mph. The officer pulled the driver over and could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. The man showed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming two beers that evening. He submitted to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he provided to breath samples that showed him over the legal limit, the arrest report states. Bail: $1,294.

— A 53-year-old Carson City woman was booked Sunday, 8:32 a.m. on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Feb. 1, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,408.

— A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 2:24 p.m. in the 1400 block of East Long Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Sept. 9, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 37-year-old Reno man was booked into Carson City jail for a contempt of court warrant issued Sept. 28, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 23-year-old Carson City woman as booked into jail Sunday, 4 p.m. on a misdemeanor theft warrant issued June 5, 2016 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 33-year-old Silver Springs man was arrested early Monday morning for a failure to appear warrant that was issued out of Carson City Justice Court. He was transferred from Lyon County to Carson City on the warrant, issued Jan. 19, 2017. Bail: $668.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man, Eric Michael Galyan, was arrested Saturday, 9:32 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Bath streets for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, suspicion of DUI drugs, not having lighted lamps and driving an unregistered vehicle, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle that didn’t have a license plate light. A canine sniff of the exterior of the vehicle produced a positive alert by the canine. During a search the deputy found a baggie with white powder and a rolled up $1 bill in the baggie, the arrest report states. Contents of the baggie returned positive for the presence of cocaine. Bail: $3,781.

— A 25-year-old transient, Alex Kallas, was arrested Saturday, 12:36 p.m. for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing. According to the arrest report, officers located a torch, a glass bulb used for smoking methamphetamine and a baggie with methamphetamine. As he was being detained he resisted officers, according to the arrest report. Bail: $4,049.

— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 10:28 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Saliman for misdemeanor failure to appear in traffic court warrants issued Sept. 14 and Nov. 8 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 41-year-old Coleville, Calif., man was arrested Saturday, 12:45 p.m. for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued June 7, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 9:14 a.m. in the 1300 block of Heather Way for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 26, 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

The Carson City School District will host a quarterly Community Connections event next week, Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Carson High School in the library.

UPDATE: Due to increased fire weather conditions, NV Energy has upgraded a Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) Watch to Warning status in Genoa, southwestern Carson City and Virginia City Highlands in northern Nevada for today, Nov. 13 and into tomorrow morning.
A PSOM warning means a de-energization is likely to prevent the possibility of sparking a wildfire.
