Sandoval tours south Dayton retention pond following National Weather Service alert
Gov. Brian Sandoval toured the South Dayton Retention Pond near East Dayton on Tuesday following alerts from the National Weather Service that indicated the area may be compromised due to heavy rainfall.
Sandoval was joined by Lyon County Manager Jeff Page, Lyon County Commissioner Ken Gray, and State Water Engineer Jason King.
“Northern Nevada continues to experience extreme weather conditions and the state is ready and committed to take swift action to help our residents. I toured the local retention pond today with local officials following a National Weather Service alert that lives were at risk and homes were possibly in danger. Fortunately, I was advised by local officials that there is no imminent danger to lives or property," said Sandoval. "The state will continue to monitor the situation and work side-by-side with local officials and all lead agencies to ensure we are prepared and helping our fellow Nevadans during these difficult times.”
