Carson City Law Enforcement Appreciation rally set for Saturday, Oct. 1

There will be a "We love our LEOs" Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Rally on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 11 to 2 p.m. at the United Federal Credit Union, 1350 E. William Street in Carson City.

The public is encouraged to bring signs in support of law enforcement. Master of ceremonies will be Rick Radecki, with the event featuring speakers, live music and refreshments.

President Obama to speak today at 20th Lake Tahoe Summit

Carson City memorializes Deputy Howell, fallen capital city officers with permanent wreath

A brief ceremony was held Monday at the Carson City Sheriff's Office building to honor Deputy Carl Howell who died in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call a year ago on this date, August 15, 2015.

The ceremony was attended by Howell's family members, sheriff's office staff and personnel, the Carson City Fire Department and city leaders.

Department of Public Safety’s dispatch received a phone call from a concerned motorist traveling southbound on I-580 that behind them was an unmarked pickup attempting to pull them over.

Preparations are underway for Carson City's largest community public safety rally set to happen tonight at Mills Park. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will hosts its annual National Night Out from 5 p.m. to 8 pm. This will be the 14th year that the Sheriff’s Office has held this free public event that annually draws thousands of participants.

Check of 186 sex offenders in Lyon County and Fallon results in one arrest, 26 not in compliance

A recent check of 186 sex offenders in Lyon County and Fallon resulted in one arrest and 26 people found to not be in compliance with registration requirements, the Nevada Department of Public Safety and Parole and Probation announced Tuesday.

The multi-agency collaborative effort, called "Operation Vigilance" was done to verify sex offender registration compliance and was conducted in Dayton, Silver Springs, Yerington, Fernley, Stagecoach and Fallon.
