A four-hour interview of homicide suspect Sean Purdy in Reno Friday night has led to the discovery of the body of his father, 52-year-old Lance Purdy of Pine Grove, Calif.

At 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2020, detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office met with the 20-year-old suspect at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nev. After approximately four hours of interviewing Sean, detectives said they were able to obtain a confession from Sean and the location of his father’s body.

Sheriff Balaam expressed his deep appreciation to all the deputies and investigators from multiple agencies who have tenaciously worked for the safety of the community during the past 12 hours.

UPDATE: Law enforcement from Washoe County and throughout the region are searching for a man thought to be in the Incline Village area who is wanted in connection with a homicide.

It is with heavy hearts that the Reno Police Department announces the death of one of our newest police officers. Officer Bradley Hartsell suffered an unforeseen medical issue while at his home on December 19, 2019.

Officer Hartsell joined the Reno Police Department in April of 2019, and graduated from the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy on December 3, 2019.

RENO — January is National Radon Action Month, and University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s Radon Education Program is offering free short-term radon test kits to Nevadans from Jan. 1 through Feb. 29. A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of S. Edmonds Lane and S. Lompa Lane for misdemeanor driving with suspended registration, no proof of insurance, department of alternative sentencing violation of suspended sentence and violation of bail conditions after refusing to stop when deputies attempted to pull him over.

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested at the hospital early Thursday morning for parole and probation violation and a Legal 2000 per the hospital.

The Carson City Historical Society Board held an emergency meeting on Dec. 21 to discuss the eminent demolition of Adele’s, and strategized on how this historic building could be preserved.

The board voted to pursue a fund raising campaign to work with the community to preserve the 155 year-old Adele’s building at 1112 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nev.

A surprise early visit from Santa Claus and his band of decked-out merry helpers brought beaming smiles and joy to dozens of capital city children and their families Christmas Eve, a tradition held for nearly 40 years by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Reserve Santa program.

A 34-year-old Dayton woman was arrested Saturday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team for suspicion of child abuse causing substantial bodily harm, burglary, grand larceny, possession of meth and heroin and other charges.
