Over 2,000 Books Collected for Affordable Housing Property Residents
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 11/29/2019 - 3:25pmNevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) and United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) completed a successful book drive during October, which is National Housing American Month. The “At Home With Reading” Book Drive, a joint effort that collected more than 2,000 books, benefitted the residents of NRHA’s nine northern Nevada affordable housing properties.

Events include the 31st season of the Nutcracker Ballet, a Feast with a Hero fundraiser at Slot World, Small Business Saturday throughout Carson City and Carson Valley, photos with Santa, a Telegraph Square sign dedication, Polar Express train rides at the V&T Railroad and more!
Austin's House, serving Carson City's foster youth and beyond, is searching for additional Board Members

Now, they are looking for motivated community members to join their Board of Directors, to help keep the mission of Austin’s House alive.

Enjoy in the games, festivities, activities at home and outdoors. Events are at a minimum, for obvious reasons, but the two big ones are traditions for us in the capital city. The Carson City Turkey Trot at the Governor's Mansion and the free Carson Nugget Thanksgiving community dinner. Enjoy your day and any slight break in the weather. More winter storms are on the way.

Carson City deputies make arrests for protection order violation, multiple DUIs

According to an arrest report, deputies responded late Sunday evening to a West Nye Lane apartment for a report of a man and woman arguing, yelling and screaming and a woman crying.

25th Annual Carson High School Craft Fair kicks off holiday shopping in Carson City

Carson City deputies arrest man for felony violation of stalking, harassment protection order
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 11/23/2019 - 11:00amA 30-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested in the 1100 block of Cedar Street Friday morning for felony violation of a stalking and harassment protection order.
According to the report, Joshua Patterson was arrested after a woman alerted dispatch that Patteson was at her house while she was at work in violation of an extended protection order (EPO) for stalking and harassment. Both the woman and her husband were protected against the man on the EPO.
The EPO was served to Patterson on Aug. 20 and required he stay away from the residence.

Keith Barham, president and co-owner of DeBug Computer, said this the seventh year the company has hosted the event, and each year, all proceeds are donated to an area non-profit.

Obituary: William 'Bill' Clarence Thornton, 1934-2019

Bill died peacefully at home in hospice care surrounded by loved ones.
