Carson City deputies make felony, misdemeanor arrests over weekend

Two inmates at Carson City jail face felony battery by a prisoner charges following an incident Saturday at the detention center, a sheriff's report states.

Oscar Eliseo Herrera, 23, and Yubrini Edenilson Chicas, 26, were involved in the incident. A review of three survelliance videos showed the men fighting, the arrest report states. Chicas has been charged with battery by a prisoner three prior times, the report states. Bail: $20,000 each.

— A 54-year-old man was booked into jail Jan. 2 for misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued in May 2017 out of Carson City Justice Court. He also was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant alleging unlawful diversion of money. That warrant was issued in February 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail for both warrants: $5,500.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man, Misael Montalvo, was arrested Saturday, Jan. 4, for suspicion of domestic battery. He was also placed on a felony parole and probation hold, the arrest report states.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area after a reporting party (RP) advised to dispatch and an officer that a man had hit a female, holding her against a vehicle and repeatedly punched her.

Through the course of the investigation it was learned the male suspect and the victim were arguing and that the man allegedly chased her, then held her against her vehicle and began hitting her and then fled in a vehicle. The victim stated she was hit in the head and was unsure if it was with a closed fist or open hand, the report states.

Officers investigating did not see any visible injuries to the woman's face. The victim advised of an incident earlier that day where the man attempted to grab the victim and scratched her on the neck. Deputies located a small scratch on the right side of the victim's neck, the report states.

Officers located the man in the area of Airport Road and Menlo and he was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery.

The man was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak. He told deputies he was confronted by the woman at her home, and stated the woman pushed and punched him multiple times. He stated he received a small cut on the bottom of his lip. Deputies observed a small cut on the man's lip. Bail: $3,137.

— A 54-year-old Dayton man, Jaspal Sign Dhanda, was arrested Jan. 4 for suspicion of being in possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, a felony, and two misdemeanors, suspended registration and open container.

According to the arrest report, deputies made a traffic stop on a vehicle that had suspended license plates. Deputies spoke with the man, and could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The man denied he had been drinking. A records check showed he had several firearm related offenses. A deputy asked the man if he had any weapons on him.

The man stated he had a knife. The officer conducted a pat down search and recovered a knife and magazine for a .380 ACP handgun on his person, the report states. After recovering the magazine, the officer asked him where the firearm was. The man stated it was in the vehicle.

Further records checks revealed the man had multiple felony arrests and convictions in California, North Dakota and Arizona. The arrests reflected firearms related arrests, vehicle theft, eluding police and burglary charges.

The officer read the man his Miranda warning and he agreed to speak and admitted he was a convicted felon and that he had a firearm in the vehicle's center console and gave consent for the officer to recover the firearm. He also stated there was a box of ammunition in the vehicle.

Officers recovered a .390 ACP handgun with a loaded magazine. There were seven cartridges in the magazine, seated on an empty chamber. There was also a box full of 50, .380 ACP round of ammunition in the vehicle. There was an open Coors Light can on the passenger seat floorboard within reach of the driver. There was a spilled beer in the back of the vehicle as well. Bail: $20,000.
