In the fourth fire call of the day, Carson City Fire Department responded Tuesday night to a brush fire at the Stewart Conservation prison area on Snyder Avenue.

A construction crew was able to knock down a small brush fire that started Tuesday afternoon at a Highway 50 East work site, according to the Carson City Fire Department.

UPDATE: 2:22PM: The northbound lanes of East College Pkwy between U.S. Highway 50 East and Sherman Lane have now reopened. The southbound lanes of East College Pkwy remain closed at Sherman to Highway 50.

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested for multiple felonies Tuesday after he allegedly brandished a gun and threatened to shoot people inside a Highway 50 East convenience store, a sheriff's deputy said.

A transient man was arrested Friday evening at 8:02 p.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, trespassing and resisting arrest, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

An 18-year-old Carson City man who had already been booked into jail for suspicion of battery and obstruction was served a warrant Monday alleging battery by a prisoner in custody, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

UPDATE 5:40PM: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called early Friday evening to a three-vehicle accident in the 2700 block eastbound lane of Highway 50 East. At least one person was reportedly injured. Motorists can expect delays.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Friday afternoon to two vehicle crashes that happened within minutes of each other at Stewart and William streets and at Roop and Mallory streets.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested early Thursday morning for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A fundraiser will be held Wednesday at Firehouse Subs in Carson City, and so far, nearly $23,000 has been raised overall for the family of Anthony Francone and Kristyn Smithwick of Carson City, whose children were injured in a fatal July 29 Oregon crash that took the life of the children's stepsister, 17-year-old Gabbi Smithwick.

A 25-year-old man was arrested late Sunday for misdemeanor suspicion of discharging fireworks close to homes, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A fundraiser to help the Smithwick-Francone family will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Firehouse Subs, 3120 U.S. Highway 50 East in Carson City.

FRIDAY, August 3: Things to do in Carson City

Yeah, it’s hot out there, but it’s the area happenings that are sizzling. The Carson City Fair at Fuji Park offers a plethora of entertainment for all ages including tractor pulls, a carnival, and farm animals. Under the shade of the Mills Park cottonwoods, you’ll have all day to peruse the varied vehicles in the annual Run Whatcha Brung Car Show. The sun will come out tomorrow, but it’s the stars that are coming out tonight for the free Levitt Amp Concert at the Brewery Arts Center.

A 36 year-old Anadarko, Oklahoma, woman was arrested early Friday morning at 1:15 a.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on two counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of felony interfering with witness reporting a crime, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Reno Lumber, a wholesale lumber supplier in the Truckee Meadows, is expanding its retail operations to Carson City and changing its name to Reno Carson Lumber, said General Manager Chris Fleiner.

I have long found it impossible to decide which Carson City event is my favorite: forever waffling between Nevada Day and the Taste of Downtown. Seeing as the annual parade is still months away, I’m going to side with ‘The Taste’ purely for its timeliness. Carson City Fire Department was called Friday afternoon for a report of a trash fire in the area of Highway 50 East near the landfill. The fire has since been contained.

As we head into the weekend, you’ll find a fair number of ways to get the party started. This week's edition of It's Your City features all things Taste of Downtown, the 25th annual culinary extravaganza happens this Saturday in Carson City.

Update: According to NV Energy, the Silver Saddle Ranch downed line was caused by an equipment failure, which caused the line to fall. The Damonte Ranch power outage was caused by a bird. There is still no information about the cause of Wednesday morning's outage.

In recent weeks, power outages and downed lines have consistently popped up more and more throughout Carson City, Lyon County, Reno and Sparks. However, NV Energy said none of the outages are connected.

UPDATE 215PM: Power was fully restored by around 1 p.m., according to NV Energy.

NV Energy reports a power outage Wednesday morning that has affected 1,303 customers in east Carson City. The outage happened at around 8 a.m.

The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) has awarded a total of $3.7 million in grant funds from the state's Account for Aid for Victims of Domestic Violence to organizations statewide, including the Carson City-based Advocates to End Domestic Violence(AEDV), which topped the list of rural county recipients with a grant totaling $89,824.
