In the fourth fire call of the day, Carson City Fire Department responded Tuesday night to a brush fire at the Stewart Conservation prison area on Snyder Avenue.

A 63-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor second DUI, a sheriff’s deputy said.

UPDATE: 2:22PM: The northbound lanes of East College Pkwy between U.S. Highway 50 East and Sherman Lane have now reopened. The southbound lanes of East College Pkwy remain closed at Sherman to Highway 50.

A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested for multiple felonies Tuesday after he allegedly brandished a gun and threatened to shoot people inside a Highway 50 East convenience store, a sheriff's deputy said.

An 18-year-old Carson City man who had already been booked into jail for suspicion of battery and obstruction was served a warrant Monday alleging battery by a prisoner in custody, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The Carson City Fair at Fuji Park offers a plethora of entertainment for all ages including tractor pulls, a carnival, and farm animals. Under the shade of the Mills Park cottonwoods, you’ll have all day to peruse the varied vehicles in the annual Run Whatcha Brung Car Show. A 36 year-old Anadarko, Oklahoma, woman was arrested early Friday morning at 1:15 a.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on two counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of felony interfering with witness reporting a crime, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

I have long found it impossible to decide which Carson City event is my favorite: forever waffling between Nevada Day and the Taste of Downtown. Seeing as the annual parade is still months away, I’m going to side with ‘The Taste’ purely for its timeliness. With over forty local eateries participating, multiple raffles at downtown shops, and seven bands rocking every corner of the event, it’s practically impossible to have a bad time. This might be the biggest happening in town, but it’s by no means the only good time: read on for all this weekend’s options.

NV Energy says recent rash of Carson City area power outages not connected, caused by various factors

Update: According to NV Energy, the Silver Saddle Ranch downed line was caused by an equipment failure, which caused the line to fall. The Damonte Ranch power outage was caused by a bird. There is still no information about the cause of Wednesday morning's outage.

In recent weeks, power outages and downed lines have consistently popped up more and more throughout Carson City, Lyon County, Reno and Sparks. However, NV Energy said none of the outages are connected.

East Carson City power outage affects more than 1,300 NV Energy customers

UPDATE 215PM: Power was fully restored by around 1 p.m., according to NV Energy.

UPDATE 10:52AM: NV Energy notes on its website that it is re-evaluating the estimated time for power restoration. As of 10:50 a.m., 1,303 customers along the Highway 50 East corridor to Mound House remain without power.

Advocates to End Domestic Violence heads rural county list of state grant funds awards

The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) has awarded a total of $3.7 million in grant funds from the state's Account for Aid for Victims of Domestic Violence to organizations statewide, including the Carson City-based Advocates to End Domestic Violence(AEDV), which topped the list of rural county recipients with a grant totaling $89,824.
