Reno Lumber expanding to Carson City
Reno Lumber, a wholesale lumber supplier in the Truckee Meadows, is expanding its retail operations to Carson City and changing its name to Reno Carson Lumber, said General Manager Chris Fleiner.
The company purchased 4.8 acres located at 3691 Arrowhead Drive in Carson City for a lumber yard, and broke ground on a new 2,000 square-foot retail facility in April 2018.
Completion of the new Reno Carson Lumber yard and store is anticipated at the end of August, Fleiner said, and should be open for business immediately afterward.
"We're very excited about being down there," he said. "We feel that's where the growth is going."
Fleiner said the spike in commerce at the Reno Tahoe Industrial Complex (TRIC) off USA Parkway in Storey County is fueling growth along the U.S. Highway 50 East corridor between Silver Springs and Dayton, Fleiner said, and the company has been increasing its business in that region of Northern Nevada.
"We'd been looking at Carson for quite some time," he said. "We've been doing more and more business down south over the past few years. We feel there's a big enough market there to get ourselves going."
Reno Carson Lumber sells all dimensions of lumber, including siding and paneling, to meet the needs of commercial home builders and home improvement weekend warriors alike, Fleiner said.
"Basically we sell anything to build a house," he said, "minus the hardware."
Fleiner said Reno Carson Lumber focuses on getting products at the best prices for its customers, due in large part to its connections with other businesses in its building construction network.
"We have our buying power and we have better buying opportunities, because we buy by volume and we offer free delivery," he said. "We've put in a lot of investment and we're looking forward to it paying off for us."
