Carson City Sheriff's Office look for man who robbed Highway 50 East 7-Eleven early Friday

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for a man who robbed the 7-Eleven at 3838 Highway 50 East early Friday morning.

According to deputies, the male entered the store at around 4:20 a.m. and waited until the clerk left her cash register and entered the store with a crowbar. He took the cash drawer and left the store on foot.

The male was approximately 5 foot 8 inches to 6 feet tall and was wearing a dark hooded jacket, dark pants and a dark cloth covering his face.

Woman arrested for shoplifting found to have three vials of dangerous drugs

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, Dec. 23 7:10 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Edmonds.
Jordan Randall Burkhart, faces felony warrant charges of failure to appear and parole and probation hold. He is being held without bail on those charges until a court hearing.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to a casino for a report of several unwanted subjects. An officer recognized Burkhart and when he saw the officer he quickly got up and exited the casino.

California man arrested on felony drug charge, admits to writing graffiti on bus stop covers

An 18-year-old Concord, Calif., man was booked Friday into Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor charges related to graffiti after admitting to law officers that he marked up bus stop covers and electrical boxes with a shoe polish pen.

NHP responds to 22 weather-related crashes Thursday, one in Carson City and 5 in Douglas County

The Nevada Highway patrol reports 22 accidents early Thursday morning due to snow and icy conditions on the roadways. Of those crashes, one was in Carson City near the I-580 freeway onramp and Highway 50 East and another near Spooner Summit on State Route 28. Five crashes were reported in Douglas County.

Two Carson City men jailed on felony charges after drug sting meth sale

Two Carson City men were arrested Dec. 13, 1:19 p.m. at East Long and Rand Street. Gregory John Modugno, 59, and Charles William Jameson, face multiple felony drug charges after being arrested during a sting operation where there was a transaction of methamphetamine.

According to the arrest report, cooperating sources made contact with Modugno who stated he would sell approximately a gram of methamphetamine for $100. The source stated Modugno would pick up the money from the source and meet them nearby to purchase the meth.

Snowstorm brings slick roads, wrecks, several spinouts

UPDATE: An accident was reported at 5:01 p.m. in the northbound lane of Highway 395 at Highway 50. NHP reports no serious injuries.

UPDATE: Southbound traffic at Hot Springs and Roop in Carson City is closed due to several spinouts as of 3:26 p.m. Traffic is backed up in the area, with snowplows and sanders making their way to clear the road.

An accident reported at I-580 and Eastlake is causing traffic problems extending into the Washoe Valley and old Highway 395, according to NHP. The freeway was closed briefly. Both lanes are now open as of 3:38 p.m.

Carson City emergency crews respond to crash at Highway 50 East and Flint, traffic being re-routed

Two vehicles were involved in a crash this afternoon at Highway 50 East near Flint Road. One injury was reported and Care Flight was requested to pick up the patient at the Carson City Airport, according to emergency personnel on the scene.

Arriving deputies report a large debris field from the crash. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called as to help with rerouting traffic around the accident scene. The Nevada Highway Patrol was also notified of the crash and were responding.

The crash was reported at around 12:45 p.m.

Snow followed by bitter cold weather expected in Carson City through the week

Tie down the lawn furniture, secure the small dogs and put a sweater on them while you're at it — a strong cold front will blow into the Carson City and Lake Tahoe region today with snow in the forecast by Tuesday morning.

A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for much of Northern Nevada as the front pushes through. Winds will be from the west to southwest, 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the western valleys and 60 mph in wind prone areas. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Man jailed on felony burglary charge after foot chase involving witness, deputies

A Carson City man was arrested and faces a felony burglary charge after a brief foot chase through a field where he was taken into custody. Edmund Adam Tyree, 25, is being held in the Carson City Jail with a bail of $20,566.

According to the arrest report, Deputy Bob Guimont was dispatched to the area of Highway 50 East and Sherman Tuesday around 4 p.m. in reference to a man who had been attempting to open doors to vehicles and homes.

Several misdemeanor arrests made by Carson City authorities during weekend

The following arrests were made over the weekend by the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at 5:27 p.m. at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street. She faces misdemeanor charges of petit larceny and disorderly conduct. A 34-year-old woman with her face charges of petit larceny and violation of a suspended sentence.

One arrested for DUI following hit and run crash in Carson City

Two traffic accidents resulting in injuries were reported Thursday night in Carson City. One person was jailed following one of the crashes, reported as a hit and run at the intersection of Roop and 5th Street.

Carson City man arrested at brothel following road rage incident

A 41-year-old Carson City man was jailed Wednesday night on a charge of misdemeanor reckless driving after allegedly tailgating a motorist, throwing an empty plastic soda bottle at them and then hitting the right front panel of the vehicle.

The suspect was found at a Mound House brothel and taken into custody. According to the arrested report, officers were dispatched to the area of Highway 50 East and Fairview for a report of a road rage incident. It was reported that a green car with Nevada plates had thrown a soda bottle at a vehicle and was following them.

Carson City Sheriff's Office report for Friday

A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 10:10 p.m., Oct. 3, on the I-580 Freeway near Highway 50 East.
According to the arrest report, Carson City patrol officers stopped the man driving a Ford pickup because it didn't have plates and registration.

The man did have a valid moving permit for the vehicle issued by Nevada DMV. However he did not have a valid driver's license and any insurance in the vehicle.

He faces misdemeanor charges of not having a valid driver's license, no proof of insurance and a warrant out of Dayton Justice Court for failure to pay a fine. Bail: $1,258.

Carson City sheriff's officers make numerous drug, misdemeanor arrests over weekend

Two men were arrested Sept. 27 and face felony drug charges after Carson City Sheriff's Special Enforcement Team officers found methamphetamine in a console of a van. Both men denied the meth was theirs.

Keith Wayne Furr, 51, and William Dale French, 42, of Dayton were arrested in the 4900 block of Highway 50 East at 5:28 p.m.

Crime Log: Mechanic accused of stealing vehicle

A Washoe Valley mechanic was arrested Tuesday night after he was found driving a vehicle with the wrong license plates.

According to the arrest report, Michael Francis Galloway, 56, was arrested in the 2300 block of Highway 50 East after a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy ran the license plates of the 1992 Ford Explorer he was driving, and they came back registered to a 1993 Jaguar.

Cold and windy weather conditions ahead for week with warmup in forecast for busy weekend

A strong cold front will move through the Sierra, Carson City and western Nevada on Tuesday bringing gusty winds and much colder temperatures with it, the National Weather Service reports.

A 21-year-old Carson City man faces a gross misdemeanor charge of child endangerment/abuse and misdemeanor domestic battery after he was arrested Sept. 22, in the 3000 block of Florentine Drive.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to an Airport Road address for a domestic battery. Officers report the victim, who is pregnant, and the suspect were arguing and the man pushed the victim out of the front door of the apartment. The victim told officers they were arguing because the man wanted to go to the bar rather than spend time with her, the arrest report states.

Carson City town hall meeting draws mostly written questions from residents

Carson City department heads responded to questions from locals Monday in a town hall meeting. While the public was given plenty of opportunity and notice to attend and encouraged to speak, three actually came to the podium, including two Carson High School students and the chair of the Carson Animal Services Initiative.

Carson City man jailed after officers find stolen laptop

A Carson City man faces a felony charge of possessing stolen property, a laptop computer, and five misdemeanors after he was arrested Sept. 14 in the 2800 block of Carmine Street.

Eduardo Reyes, 43, was jailed with bail at $27,469. According to the arrest report, officers went to the residence of the man who had a confirmed warrant out of Carson City Justice Court for obstructing and driving without a valid license.

Four individuals, 3 Carson City businesses cited for buying, selling alcohol to minors

Four individuals and three Carson City businesses were cited this week during an underage alcohol "shoulder tap" operation through the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

The Monday operation is where individuals were asked by an underage "decoy" to purchase alcohol for him or her. The decoy informed those asked that they were underage and could not purchase the alcohol. The decoy was assisted by two Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies who oversaw the operation, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

Carson City man wanted for felony domestic battery found hiding in attic

A 50-year-old Carson City man, who hid from authorities in an attic, was arrested Sunday and faces a felony domestic battery charge with strangulation. William Elliott was arrested in the 1500 block of Rand at 7:26 p.m.

According to the arrest report officers responded to the Rand address for a report of a man brandishing a gun and possibly domestic battery. Officers spoke with the victim who stated she walked into her home and the locks were changed.

Carson City authorities make felony arrests in attempted robbery, domestic battery calls

A 19-year-old Carson City man faces a felony charge of attempted robbery after he was arrested Sunday for allegedly demanding money from a victim and then chasing him to a nearby apartment complex.

Pair jailed in Carson City after allegedly stealing purse, racking up credit card purchases

Two were arrested Sunday and face multiple felony charges including burglary after allegedly stealing a purse with a gun inside from underneath the counter of a Carson City business and then using credit cards to go on a buying spree.

Samantha Ann Henry, of Dresslerville, and David Elden Bennett of Markleeville, both 27, are being held on $105,200 bail each. The pair were discovered attempting to purchase items with one of the stolen credit cards at the Walmart store on Market Street.
