Carson City road maintenance and repair report for April 8-14

Here is the Carson City road report for the week of April 8-14: With ongoing construction of the Carson City Freeway project, Snyder Avenue remains closed between E. Roland Street and Center Drive.

Center Drive and Silver Sage Drive are also closed south of Appion Way. Bennett Avenue is closed between Center Drive and Bigelow Drive. Detours will be marked.

Utility work will begin next week on the following roads.
— Carson Street between Second Street and Musser Street.
— Musser Street between Carson Street and Curry Street (temporary road closure possible).

Historic V&T Railroad opens season with Mother's Day wild west train ride

This Mother’s Day, give Mom a window seat back in time with a tour of the Wild West aboard the Virginia and Truckee Railroad, Sunday, May 12.

This special edition train ride from Nevada's capital, Carson City, to the 1860s boom-era mining town of Virginia City, will provide Mom with a long stem rose, Old West history, storytelling, shopping and dining in Virginia City to go along with the spectacular scenery.

Man jailed for felony parole violation; Two Dayton women arrested following meth sting sale

A 27-year-old Carson City man faces a felony charge of being in violation of parole after he was found Thursday under the influence of drugs at a gas station. He was also allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and told a witness, concerned about his well being, that he was "on H" which is street slang for heroin.

Carson City man jailed after smashing door window, stalking ex-girlfriend

A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning on misdemeanor charges after he allegedly stalked his ex-girlfriend, made threats, obsessively sent text messages and then shattered the glass door of her home after punching it.

Carson City road repair and construction report for March 4-10

Here is the Carson City road report for the week of March 4-10. There will be utility work along Old Hot Springs Road, Retail Drive, and Hot Springs Road.

The road will be open to through traffic, but there will be occasional lane closures with flagger controls.

On Thursday, March 7, there will be utility work along the south shoulder of U.S. Highway 50 east of Fairview Drive. No delays are expected but please use caution.

Carson City deputies make separate felony drug-related arrests

A 32-year-old Dayton woman was arrested early Friday morning in Carson City and faces a felony charge of possessing drugs without a prescription and misdemeanor charges including driving on a suspended license for DUI, open container and violation of bail conditions.

Tickets aboard historic Comstock-era V&T Railroad line on sale now

Carson City authorities make felony drug trafficking arrest

A Carson City man was arrested and faces multiple felony drug charges after authorities found 14 grams of meth hidden in the man's underwear.

Eduardo Segura, 27, was arrested at Hot Springs Road and Roop at 10 a.m. Feb. 8. He was pulled over because of a vehicle license plate that was missing. Upon contact, officers recognized him because of other entanglements with the law including time in prison that involved a Carson City shooting in which he was deported to Mexico following the sentence, the arrest report states.

Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range to be closed briefly Feb. 21 for cleanup

The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range in Carson City will be closed to the public Thursday, Feb. 21, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The range will reopen for normal operations after 3:00 p.m. the same day.

The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department will be cleaning the facility and hauling trash and debris from the site. The range is located at 4000 Flint Drive (U.S. Highway 50 East to Rifle Range Road).

Man jailed after police foot chase through Carson City restaurant

A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested after officers were led in a foot pursuit that went inside a busy local restaurant. The man, identified as Tony Clarence Wilson, was tasered on the patio of the establishment located in the 1000 block of South Carson Street.

Wilson faces a felony charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of a suspended sentence. The arrest happened Feb. 1 at 8:30 p.m.

Carson City deputies make arrests in robbery, stabbing cases

Two Carson City men were arrested and face felony robbery charges. Orion Tova, 42, and Kyle Carpenter, 25, were arrested as a result of a confrontation that was said to be about the victim having stolen money from the suspect's mother who said he was trying to get it back.

Several domestic battery, DUI arrests made prior to New Year's holiday period

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies dealt with a number of misdemeanor-related crimes in the days leading up to the New Year's holiday period, with several arrests made for domestic abuse, fighting and driving under the influence. Here are some of those arrests:

Naked man faces felony robbery charges after stealing Ford Bronco

A Carson City man faces felony robbery and grand larceny charges after allegedly attacking a man outside of a casino, grabbing his keys and stealing a Ford Bronco, crashing it into a fence all the while being naked.
Alex Xavier Anguiano, 20, was arrested around 6 a.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of Highway 50.

Man faces felony fraud charges after credit card machine and cards found inside room

A San Francisco man was arrested and faces felony credit card forgery charges after equipment used to make cards was found inside a Carson City hotel room, authorities said.

Joshua Jeremiah Sims, 41, was arrested in the 900 block of South Carson Street Dec. 15 at 3:45 p.m. According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, officers responded to a call about credit card making equipment found inside a room after Sims had failed to check out earlier in the day.

Sheriff's Office Motor Unit raises money for child abuse nonprofit

The Carson City Sheriff's Office is pleased to announced that on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. the Sheriff's Motor Unit will donate $500 to the Carson City Chapter of the FACA (Fighters Against Child Abuse) at the gym located at 3179 Highway 50 East in Carson City.
FACA is a nationwide nonprofit 5010(c)(3) organization that aids children in the recovery of child abuse. Please check the FACA website at www.kochildabuse.com for more information on their services and specific information on what they do for children everywhere.

Dog dodging Carson City traffic finally caught

This sweet old lady has been wandering on Highway 50 east and Arrowhead and Deer Run Road areas in Carson City since the the first week of November.

If you stopped to help her, she would bolt across all 4 lanes of traffic. It is a miracle she was not hit. Thanks to the efforts of many people, she was finally caught in a live trap.

Three arrested on drug charges after text messages revealed sales

An anonymous tip about a vehicle used in drug transactions and phone text messages about drug sales led to the arrest of three Carson City residents for possession with the intent to sell.
The arrests were made near the area of 700 Hot Springs Road at 1:40 a.m. Oct. 29. According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, a deputy was parked outside an apartment building and was speaking with a Capital City patrol officer. A vehicle drove up to the apartment complex that matched the vehicle description provided by the anonymous tipster.

Search warrant leads to heroin and meth found inside Carson City home

A Carson City man faces felony drug charges after authorities received a search warrant and found heroin and methamphetamine. Edward Dale Cheney, 23, was arrested Oct. 15 and faces the drug charges as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a suspended sentence.

Man arrested for allegedly stealing, using debit card

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested a man on Thursday for allegedly stealing a debit card out of a vehicle and using it to buy beer, cigarettes, food and a laptop computer.

According to the arrest report, the victim stated that he keeps the card in his vehicle. The victim's bank notified him of some unusual purchases made on that card on June 26. The victim said that was the same day he took the vehicle to a business in the 1800 block of Highway 50 East to have it serviced, and that the card was now missing.

At approximately 9:30 PM, 06/07/12, a fatal traffic accident occurred on US 50 between Silver Springs and Fallon, Nevada near mile marker LY33.

Crime Log for Feb. 16: Carson City's police arrest several on felony charges

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals over the last few days:

  • Jacob Jerrard, 23, a maintenance worker from Carson City, just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night, at the corner of North Edmonds Drive and Highway 50 East. Jerrard was arrested for a felony hold from Probation and Parole, as well as the misdemeanors of failing to stop at a stop sign and driving without a valid drivers' license. No bail has been set.

Crime log: Carson City sex offender fails to change address

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Roy Nelson Robinson, 47, an unemployed Carson City man, at about 1 p.m. Thursday at the 900 block of South Carson Street. Robinson was arrested for a misdemeanor domestic battery and a felony sex offender failure to change address. Bail is set at $8,000 plus administrative fees.

Crime Log: Carson City woman arrested for misuse of 911

Carson City Sheriff's deputies took custody of Anthony Kendall, 25, an unemployed transient, at the Carson City Detention Facility at 9:40 a.m. Jan. 10. Kendall was transferred to the facility from Douglas County for a felony possession of a controlled substance warrant in his name. No bail has been set.

An officer arrested Joanne Holder, 58, a disabled Carson City woman, at 4:20 a.m. today at Jack in the Box on Highway 50 East. Holder was arrested for a gross misdemeanor misuse of 911. Bail is set at $2,500.

Crime Log: vandalism turns into attempt to obtain medication

A Carson City Sheriff's deputy arrested Cameron Matthew Haffey, 20, a stocker from Carson City, just before 3 a.m. Wednesday at the 1800 block of North Carson Street. Around 11 p.m. Tuesday officers were dispatched to a north Carson pharmacy on a report of a broken window. Camera footage showed a suspect in dark pants and a dark coat. Later on the same deputy was passing the pharmacy and spotted a suspect that matched that description.
