The statistics are staggering. Thirty percent of the people diagnosed with breast cancer go on to get metastatic breast cancer.

Metastatic beast cancer is an incurable disease. It is when breast cancer has spread beyond the breast, possibly to the lymph nodes or other organs in the body. Around 40,000 people a year in the US die from it. It is the advanced part of breast cancer and it is rarely discussed.

Names of four fallen Nevada firefighters to be added to firefighter memorial in Carson City

Plaques bearing the names of four Nevada firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty will be added to those of other Nevada firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty during a memorial this Saturday, Oct. 12 at Mills Park in Carson City.

Registration begins for Carson City Community Emergency Response Team Academy

Community Emergency Response Team

The Community Emergency Response Team, also known as CERT, will host an academy to provide information for Carson City citizens on how to become prepared for a local emergency or disaster. Class time is 21 hours and includes light search and rescue, disaster medical operations and fire safety.

Senator Keith Pickard of southern Nevada, the man behind the hotly-debated bee bill, is standing behind his legislation in the face of controversy; however, he says, the Legislative Council Bureau of the Nevada State Legislature is at fault for not following his original intention. The bill's original intention was to stop the spread of Africanized Bees in Nevada, he says, which needs to be dealt with on a state level.
