Memorial honoring Nevada’s fallen military to be unveiled in dedication ceremony
The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony of the Battle Born Memorial to Nevada’s military fallen on Friday, Nov. 9 on the state capitol grounds in Carson City.
A reception will precede the event at 9 a.m. inside the lobby of the State Archives and Library Building, 100 North Stewart Street in Carson City. The formal ceremony will take place outside at 10 a.m. in back of the State Archive building.
The program will be as follows:
— 9 a.m. reception
— 10 a.m. Fly Over; Posting of Colors; Nevada Veterans Coalition National Anthem performed by Major Melissa Beauchamp, (Ret.) Nevada Air National Guard; invocation by Chaplain Hal Woomer of the Nevada National Guard; Keynote speakers Gov. Brian Sandoval, State Sen. David Parks, PUNCH Architecture Zak Ostrowiski and Tina Drakulich, representing Gold Star families; ribbon cutting.
There are a limited number of keepsakes that will be given to attendees. The keepsake is an actual piece of the Memorial, cut into the shape of Nevada, so families will always have a piece of the Memorial to keep with them forever.
