Washoe, Douglas counties to provide latest Monday on possible murder charges for Martinez-Guzman
District attorneys from Douglas and Washoe counties will hold a joint press conference Monday to discuss the latest on possible murder charges against Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, a suspect in the murders of two women in Gardnerville and an elderly couple in South Reno.
The press conference is scheduled for Jan. 28 at 12 p.m. at the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office located on the third floor of the south tower complex of the Mills B. Lane Justice Center, One South Sierra Street in Reno, a Douglas County Sheriff's statement said.
The conference will update the public on the filing of formal criminal charges in connection with the four murders that occurred earlier this month.
Martinez-Guzman was arraigned Thursday in Carson City on 36 counts, including stolen property possession and burglary. He is also on a no-bail immigration hold.
At Monday’s press conference, Douglas County District Attorney Mark Jackson and Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks will provide information on the charging decisions reached by the offices related to 19-year-old Martinez-Guzman of Carson City.
DA Hicks and DA Jackson will each provide statements and take questions. They will be joined at the conference by Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, Douglas County
Sheriff Dan Coverley and Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Washoe County will be streaming the press conference live. To view the live stream, please visit the Washoe County Facebook page: www.facebook.com/WashoeCounty
