Chef David Stern is literally counting the hours until his new restaurant opens its doors in downtown Carson City.

The Earth Spirit Faire has returned to the Nevada state capital, featuring several craft vendors and practitioners in the healing arts, massage, and intuitive readings inside the Carson City Community Center gymnasium Saturday and Sunday.

Hold on to your hat, the weekend is here. If it’s a cowboy hat, head over to Genoa for their annual Cowboy Festival. Plenty of free things to see, hear, and experience await. The annual Spring Earth Spirit Faire lets you celebrate Mother Earth with workshops, holistic practitioners, great vendors, and a raffle. It benefits the Heart to Heart School and Advocates to End Domestic Violence so it’s always worth checking out. You’ll have to keep reading for all of your choices, the spring thaw brings out the best this valley has to offer.

In the world of used cars, there is used and then is Carson Car Center used.

"Our used inventory is different from other used inventory, because 80 percent of our cars are slightly pre-owned," said Carson Car Center General Manager Wayne Lew. "Used 2015, 2016 and 2017 cars make up the majority of the lot."

When Robin McGregor attended her first Entrepreneurs Assembly meeting at Adams Hub for innovation in February of this year, she had no idea what to expect. Robin’s goal was to drive more people into Carson City Art Gallery, which she opened with her husband Rich, in September 2016. The gallery is located in a historic former stagecoach stop at 110 Curry Street in downtown Carson City.

Eagle Valley Middle School’s FIRST LEGO League team, The Jedi Engineers, have returned from the FIRST World Festival Championships! FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a not-for-profit organization founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen, inspires young people’s interest and participation in science and technology.

Soroptimist International of Carson City will honor its Ruby Award recipient during a luncheon meeting Wednesday, April 26. Around the world, many women are working to improve the lives of women and girls. Some women work through their personal or volunteer efforts; others do so through professional avenues.

Carson High School students worked tirelessly over the previous eight months to prepare for Carson City community volunteers, many of them CHS graduates who completed the Senior Project themselves, to evaluate both their portfolios and their speeches to be delivered Saturday.

The Carson Nugget in Carson City will celebrate the grand opening of its new Beer Bar on Friday, April 21. The Beer Bar is a concept bar that offers only bottled beer from an open-to-the-casino cube with high-def TV’s, all the way around, to deliver the most in-demand sports and entertainment.

The soup’s on at the all-new Scoup’s Ice Cream and Soup Bar on Bob McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City.

So is the ice cream.

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City will feature “Burning”, a one woman show this weekend for Earth Day. Burning is a highly kinetic, semi-comic romp through the absurd landscapes of climate change where comedy, tragedy, activism and cautious optimism collide.

In tense situations, they are the voice of clarity. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, public safety dispatchers are the lifeline between those who need help and those who mobilize to provide it.

Smack dab in the middle of April and the town is officially in its Spring thaw. Easter is on Sunday, so just about anywhere you go you’ll find the Bunny and an egg hunt. To make it easy, I’ve moved all of those events to their own everything Easter list HERE.

So much is happening this weekend, that breaking my weekend list up seemed like the only thing to do. Eggs galore, brunches, and family friendly fun is what you’ll find here. Whether you’re in Carson, Douglas, Dayton, or Virginia City – there’s something fun just around the corner. Nine years ago, the Kiwanis Club of Carson City, established in 1959, were approached by the Jaycee’s of Carson City. For 30 years they had sponsored and provided the annual Easter Egg Hunt, primarily at Governor’s Field on Easter Sunday.

More than half of the human body is made of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen, according to the United States Geological Survey's Water Science School. Various organs of the body contain as much as 83 percent water, a vital element to life and its essential functions.

The support received from the community of Carson City is enough to make people from all over the country want to relocate. Former students know there are no special funds available for high school clubs to organize a prom or enjoy interscholastic competition.
