Scoup’s now opening in downtown Carson City
The soup’s on at the all-new Scoup’s Ice Cream and Soup Bar on Bob McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City.
So is the ice cream.
Geoff and Kimberly Landry opened their eatery to patrons softly Tuesday, offering a few different soups and several ice cream flavors, including a bright blue confection that brothers Augustus and Abraham Noll of Carson City plowed into Tuesday afternoon.
The Nolls, ages 3 and 5 respectively, enjoyed the creamy delight with their mother, Stormie Noll at the window bar facing McFadden Plaza.
Asked to describe how their ice cream tasted, Augustus Noll smiled with a blue ring around his lips and a drip running down his chin.
“Bubble gum!” he said.
Mike Bish and Lucy Adams sat down for lunch Tuesday having ordered combination meals, complete with a cup of soup, a salad, and a bread roll.
“I think it’s a great idea,” Adams said of the new ice cream and soup bar. “This is a light meal that still gives you plenty of room for dessert, which is always the most important thing.”
The Landrys began renovation of the 1,060 square foot space at 224 South Carson Street next door to Mom and Pop’s Diner last fall before Christmas.
Now that the restaurant is open, Kimberly Landry said the fun is just beginning.
“We are just so excited,” she said.
Scoup’s is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Landrys said their restaurant is expecting to be open as late as 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
