The Carson Lodge No. 1 of Free and Accepted Masons announces it is hosting the Third Annual Mason’s Charity Poker Tournament on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Carson Plaza Convention Center.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Masonic youth organizations: Carson High School scholarships, Rainbow Girls, Carson High School Safe Graduation and the preservation fund of the original V&T Railroad Depot.

L.A. Bakery breaks ground for new expansion

The owners of L.A. Bakery broke ground this morning on their new expansion at the corner of Fleischmann and North Curry.

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell helped owners Ali Arbabha and Leila Tavakoli turn the ceremonial shovel of dirt.

The new expansion will connect to the existing bakery on John Street and add additional seating and meeting space.

Carson City/Storey County Cooperative Extension’s popular babysitting certification class

Carson City/Storey County Cooperative Extension’s popular babysitting certification class will return to the office conference room March 20th and 21st.

The class is offered each year during the Carson City schools’ spring break. Class will be held in the Carson City Cooperative Extension office conference room, suite 15, at 2621 Northgate Lane. Hours for the class will be from 9-Noon March 20th and 21st.

The class this year has been condensed to only two days; 3 hours each day. Students attending the class should be at least 12 years-of-age.

"We're the sweethearts of the leagues around here," said CVR Events Coordinator Crystal Blackeye. "Sometimes they get into it with each other, but the other teams mended their ways because of us and became legit."
