It's Your City features talk with Florence Phillips about English as a Second Language in-home classes
In this edition of It's Your City host Cortney Bloomer speaks with Florence Phillips who discusses the many ways English as a Second Language in home services helps our community. She discusses how the ESL In-Home of Northern Nevada, a non-profit volunteer organization, was formed and how it has evolved over the years.
Since February 2004, community volunteer tutors have assisted more than 5,000 adult learners to become more informed and self-reliant by learning to speak, read, write, and understand English. The organization makes a difference in people’s lives and helps solve the language barriers.
The ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada offers adults an opportunity to learn or improve their English language skills. The training sessions and basic materials are provided at no cost to the tutor and student.
For more information about the program, call (775) 888-2021 or go to www.eslinhome.org.
