Carson City area road report: Southbound I-580 overnight lane closures begin
Submitted by editor on Sun, 11/22/2015 - 11:49amHere is the Carson City area road report for the week of Nov. 23-29: NDOT will begin construction work Sunday night on the auxiliary lane of southbound I-580 from the Eastlake Boulevard interchange to the N. Carson Street off-ramp. There will be nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through Wednesday morning, Nov. 25.

The work is part of a project to repave the aging roadway surface, seismically retrofit bridges and make other improvements on Interstate 580 in Washoe Valley.

“We’re optimistic about this opportunity to work together to get back some of the access that we have lost in the past, and work to enhance access in the future. Charles Sehe, now 92, was a teenaged sailor on the USS Nevada when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor during World War II.

Navy sailors to perform volunteer services in Carson City
Submitted by editor on Thu, 10/01/2015 - 1:59pmFifteen sailors from Carrier Air Wing Three of Virginia Beach, VA will be in Carson City on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 10 to perform volunteer work at some of our most historic sites.
The sailors will be training at Fallon Naval Air Station and when in any community perform volunteer duties to “leave each place we visit in better condition,” according to Lt. Robert D Fasnacht, group leader.

Yet before the sun would rise in the morning, the immediacy of our grief was met with the over-powering emotional support from the entire community. I am humbled, honored, and thankful, as I speak for the entire Sheriff’s Office staff, to live in such a wonderful caring and supportive community called home.
