Carson City emergency crews responded Monday afternoon to a single vehicle crash on northbound I-580 near the top of Lakeview hill.

Emergency crews respond to four-vehicle crash at northbound I-580 onramp

UPDATE 7PM: One person has been flown to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno and one has been taken by ground ambulance following a four-vehicle crash on the I-580, Highway 50 East onramp. Two others suffered minor injuries.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. At this time the make and models of the vehicles involved is unknown. Also unknown are the conditions and identities of the two patients seriously injured.
We will update as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 6:40PM: Care Flight will land north of the crash at the I-580, Highway 50 East onramp. One person will be flown and another will be taken via ground ambulance.

Carson City arrests: Woman jailed after traffic stop for speeding leads to meth discovery

A 43-year-old Zephyr Cove woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine was found in her vehicle following a traffic stop, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Bicyclist injured in vehicle crash at College Parkway and Ormsby

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday just after noon for an accident involving a bicyclist and a vehicle. The collision was reported to be near the intersection of College Parkway and Omsby.

Elderly woman beaten at north Carson City home, son in custody

UPDATE 8:26PM: A Carson City man is in custody after attempting to beat his mother to death Tuesday afternoon at an Arrowhead Drive home, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

Douglas Taladay, 40, is in custody at Carson City Jail and faces charges of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, elderly enhancement and preventing a victim from calling 911. His bail is set at $500,000. Taladay admitted the crimes to investigators, said Furlong.

City manager outlines current emergency preparedness plan

The Nevada state capital has seen its share of natural disasters and citywide emergencies.

From wildfires to flooding and all-too-common high wind events, Carson City Manager Nick Marano says local government is ready to respond at a moment's notice.

"The city has an emergency operations plan," Marano said. "We've gone through several rounds of modifications to it."

There is an emergency operations center, he said, that enhances communication between public safety and public works departments during local emergencies.

A robbery at a north Carson City convenience store early Thursday morning ended when the suspect jumped inside a Carson City sheriff’s patrol car, fought with a deputy inside the car, rammed the car into a second patrol car and then plowed through a fence into an apartment building storage unit.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to a three-vehicle crash Wednesday in the area of South Roop and Industrial Park Drive.
The crash happened just before 5 p.m. and was blocking lanes of traffic. Motorists should avoid the area and find an alternative route.
Four people were reportedly being treated at the scene.

Southbound lanes blocked after rollover crash on Carson City freeway near Lakeview

Carson City Fire Department, the Nevada Highway Patrol and sheriff's deputies were called Monday afternoon to a single vehicle rollover on the I-580 freeway, in the southbound lane south of Lakeview.

The occupant of the Toyota Tundra, which was hauling a trailer filled with thousands of pieces of white paper, was reportedly out of the vehicle and limping, according to dispatch. The crash was reported at 1:03 p.m.

Hundreds of pieces of paper were blowing across the freeway, according to sheriff's deputies on scene.

Pedestrian suffers minor injuries after accident with vehicle at Fairview and Bobwhite

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle this afternoon in the area of Fairview and Bobwhite, according to Carson City dispatch. The accident happened at around 4:15 p.m.
Arriving Carson City firefighters said the pedestrian was up and walking around and sustained minor injuries to their leg.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called to a rollover vehicle crash Thursday night in the area of Highway 50 and Airport Road across from Taco Bell.

Carson City firefighters respond to brush fire on Carson Street and Arrowhead

UPDATE 5PM: Firefighters were able to get the upper hand on a brush fire Wednesday in a field off of North Carson Street and Arrowhead. The brush fire produced flames several feet high when firefighters arrived but were able to knock them down despite the gusty winds.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Carson City dispatch was called at 4:21 p.m. after receiving numerous 911 calls.

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called to a vehicle accident in the 3500 block of Highway 50 East, across from the Goodwill store. The crash was reported to dispatch at 5:20 p.m.

Carson City emergency crews called to crash involving 5 vehicles at Carson and Winnie

UPDATE 6:45PM: One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a crash involving five vehicles that happened just after 5 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Carson Street and Winnie Lane.
The crash involved a red Dodge Dakota, a blue Ford Mustang, a silver Honda, a red Jeep and a silver Mazda. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
It was originally reported as crash involving four vehicles.

Traffic in the area is being diverted around the crash scene. Motorists can expect delays. Firefighters report at least two people have minor injuries, one caused from a seatbelt and another a person who had recent back surgery.

Sheep help with annual fuels reduction, invasive weed work around Carson City

As part of a Carson City hazardous fuels reduction and invasive weed project, sheep will be placed along the west side of Carson City to reduce the fuel load by removing fine fuels, including cheatgrass and other non-native vegetation, from the wildland urban interface.

UPDATE: 4:26PM: The brush fire that was sparked Sunday afternoon at Centennial Park in East Carson City has been doused and is under control, with firefighters expected to be on scene for the next two hours for mop-up, said Fire Chief Bob Schreihans. The fire burned around 3 acres and the cause is unknown at this time. Fire investigators are at the scene. No one was injured and at least one structure was damaged, Schreihans said.

Care Flight called for injured dirt biker at Kings Canyon

A dirt biker was injured Saturday evening in the Kings Canyon area, with Carson City Search and Rescue responding, according to emergency dispatch.

A Care Flight helicopter was called at 7:39 p.m. to pick up the injured off-road motorcycle rider as he was being brought down from the canyon by search and rescue and the Carson City Fire Department.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to a traffic accident Saturday morning near the intersection of Musser and Roop streets.

Firefighters in Douglas County respond to apartment fire in Gardnerville

East Fork Fire Protection District firefighters in Douglas County were called just before 1 p.m. to a structure fire at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of El Dorado Drive off of Waterloo in Gardnerville.
The apartment was evacuated and Red Cross was called to assist seven people, 4 adults, two children and an infant who are now displaced because of the fire.
The cause is under investigation. Carson City Fire Department was called as a mutual aid to backup other stations called to fight the fire.
