Carson City Fire Department extinguish small fire in construction area

Carson City Fire Department was called at around 6:30 p.m. Thursday to a small fire in the area of Molly Drive and Corbett Street. Dispatch reports that a reporting party advised juveniles intentionally started the small fire, less than a foot in diameter, in a construction area. The fire was quickly extinguished by arriving firefighters.

Firefighters cut a portion of the roof open to determine if the fire had spread into the interior attic portion of the building. There was no further extension of fire in the roof, said Carson City Fire District Battalion Chief Dan Albee. The incident was turned over to school officials at 9:34 p.m.

Carson City Fire Department is joining up with Random Acts of Kindness to conquer kids’ cancer by hosting the annual St. Baldrick’s event. Shavees for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation show their support by shaving their heads voluntarily, and inspiring friends and family to donate money to support childhood cancer research.
