Carson City BMX Race for Life

The Carson City area BMX community has launched its annual Race For Life campaign to help raise money in the fight to find a cure for blood-related cancers.

Racers and their families can pick up collection envelopes and begin collecting donations from friends, relatives, neighbors and businesses in the community. Helping others is one of the finest things anyone can ever do in life.

Donations raised will go to help fight and bring to an end a dreadful disease that affects thousands of people each year.

Carson City Republican Party Terminates Membership of Assemblyman PK O'Neill

Tuesday the Executive Board voted to remove Assemblyman PK O'Neill from the Carson City Republican Party. There has been much press and he has a very good writer who accentuates his few highly selective non-controversial votes while in the legislature and ignores the bulk of his decisions. Obviously our action is not due to his non-challenging votes but rather his many dubious ones. He does not acknowledge his campaign promises. He does not discuss attending a CCRP meeting at which he asked for our direction on this tax issue.

WNC to host Carson City community walk Saturday to spotlight sexual assault

Western Nevada College student leaders are serious about preventing sexual assault in our society. To bring awareness to the problem, they will lead a free public Sexual Assault Awareness Walk on Saturday, April 30, 10 am.

The 2.3 mile round-trip walk will begin in the parking lot just south of the Bully’s Restaurant at 3530 N. Carson St, at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 395 and West College Parkway in Carson City.

Sheriff's Office investigates windows shot out at downtown Carson City antique store

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating windows that were shot out early Tuesday morning at a downtown Carson City antique store.

The incident happened at just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Hanifin’s Arts and Antiques on the Curry Street entrance. The business is located at 210 North Carson Street. Two large plate glass windows were shot out. Dispatch received word of the vandalism at 1:33 a.m.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the shooting incident is under investigation and did not elaborate further.

Chris Forbush the Only Candidate Endorsed by Republican Party in Assembly District 40 Race

Summit Cleaning Services Joins with Food For Thought to Combat Local Childhood Hunger

“Every year, we try to give back to the community in a real way,” said Stephen Jaenchen, owner of Summit Cleaning Services. In past years, Summit has helped support the NV Children’s Museum, the Carson Tahoe Cancer Resource Center, and the Ron Wood Family Resource Center.

Nevada participates in Spring Aboard national boating safety and education campaign

During the week of April 17-23, the Nevada Department of Wildlife is joining a nationwide effort created by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators to promote boating education. Developed by NASBLA, and produced under a grant administered by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Spring Aboard campaign brings together state, federal and nonprofit partners to encourage boaters to enroll in a boating education course before boating season kicks off.

Inspiring minds come together at TEDx Carson City

Dozens gathered throughout the day Friday to see creativity and innovation in action at the TEDx debut in Carson City, held inside the Brewery Arts Center's Black Box Theater.

Sixteen speakers were selected for the 2016 program, ranging in age from 16 to 70 years old. Of those, eleven speakers are local in Carson City, the Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and Susanville. Five others have local ties to Nevada.
