A Second Bite At The Apple: Chris Carver re-enters Carson City mayor race
In a surprising change of events, once former candidate for Carson City Mayor, Chris Carver, today rescinded his withdrawal letter filed last Friday. NRS 293.202(2) allows candidates to rescind a withdrawal of candidacy within 7 days (weekends excluded), of the last day for filing (March 18th). The Carson City Clerk accepted the "Rescission of Withdrawal of Candidacy at 1:31PM this afternoon.
Carver withdrew from the race citing health concerns. In re-announcing his campaign for mayor, Carver stated that he had been working 20 hour days to get his campaign up and running and allowed exhaustion to compromise his heath. Carver further related that members of the community had provided words of encouragement over the weekend and despite having two other candidates in the race, neither reflected the change in leadership he, or his supporters, believe the city needs.
In re-entering the race, Carver readily acknowledged he's fighting an uphill-battle to win back voter support following his withdrawal, but also stated he intends to run his campaign at a less aggressive pace. "We need real leadership in the mayor's office if we're going to get the change we need. I pushed too hard, too fast, and I've learned my lesson."
