Carson City family charters helicopter to search for missing dogs

A Carson City family chartered a private helicopter Wednesday to search for two shaggy white dogs missing since Friday night. The owners of the Spinoni Italiano dogs are Stacey and Lorne Belt. The dogs, Mara and Adele, escaped while the couple were walking.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office Saturday checkpoint: No DUI arrests, 24 citations issued

A DUI and motorist compliance checkpoint conducted by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office had at least 1,887 vehicles go through Saturday that resulted in 24 citations and four vehicles that were impounded for driver’s license or vehicle registration violations, a Carson City sheriff’s sergeant said.

Carson City voter registration up in 2016

More registered voters have been recorded in Carson City so far this year than at the same time two years ago during the last election season, according to January 2016 voter registration data collected by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.

More than 27,600 registered voters were recorded in Carson City as of January 2016, the Secretary of State’s Office reports.

Increased voter registration, in fact, appears to be a statewide trend, too, the Secretary of State’s Office also reports.
