Field widens as candidates file for Carson City Mayor
Adding yet another name to the race for Carson City Mayor, Carson City resident Chris Carver announced his candidacy for the office late this afternoon. Mr. Carver's candidacy brings the number of candidates to four.
Mr. Carver is a five year resident of Carson City, a retired Army officer, and a retired Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New York and a Master of Science Degree from the National Intelligence University.
Mr. Carver is the owner of "CarsonCityPolitics.com" which has been an outspoken critic of current city policy and provided a voice to many Carson City residents who feel their current elected officials often fail to represent their views. In choosing to run for Mayor, Chris is moving from a behind the scenes "critical observer" to an advocate for the voters. He intends to address not only weak government policy, but also a strategic vision that includes Carson City's often silent majority.
Mr. Carver believes many voters feel that their objections to increased city spending, rising taxes and fees, and mounting debt have been largely ignored. His campaign will focus on these important issues as well as developing policy which reduces government spending on non-essential services, improves the efficiency of city government operations, and ensures major projects and tax increases are subject to voter approval.
In running against Mayor Bob Crowell (who ran unopposed in 2014), Mr. Carver's campaign motto is "New leadership for a responsible government."
Mr. Carver's website "ChrisCarver4Mayor.org" and email "Chris@ChrisCarver4Mayor.org" will be operational by 3/21/16. He can be reached at 775-720-6423.
