Virginia City and Reno honor veterans Wednesday with annual Veterans Day parades
Veterans Day Parades will be held in Virginia City and Reno on Wednesday. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Virginia City holds its annual Veterans Day Parade to honor those who have served and currently serve our country.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Price Gerald Ross – Virginia City local and Navy veteran ranked DC1 with 20 years of service, 1942-1962.
The parade, held Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., takes place along C Street – the town’s main drive.
Immediately following the parade a spaghetti feed is held at the Storey County Senior Center, located at 100 Mill Street in Virginia City. All service men and women are invited to attend at no cost.
In downtown Reno, the annual "Thank you for your service" Veterans Day Parade will be from 11 a.m. to noon. The parade starts on Court and Virginia Street and travels to 5th and Virginia Street through the heart of downtown Reno.
In Carson City on Tuesday the Carson City Marine Corps organization is celebrating the 240th birthday of the United States Marine Corps, 4:30 p.m. at the Westside Pour House, located at the corner of Telegraph and Curry. There will be light buffet, and the cake cutting will be at 6 p.m. Kids are welcome.
On Wednesday there will be a Recycled Rides car presentation to an Army veteran at Western Nevada College's E.L. Cord Technology Center. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony, Wednesday, at 9 a.m.
In July, WNC’s Auto Body Technology department repaired its second vehicle for donation, a refurbished 2006 GMC Envoy, to Veteran Michael Atkinson.
