Advocates to End Domestic Violence hosts virtual 'Light after Dark' fitness event Saturday
Carson City-based Advocates to End Domestic Violence will host a virtual version of its annual Light after Dark 5K/10K Walk, Run, Hike, Bike and Beyond awareness fitness event and fundraiser this Saturday, Oct. 17.
This year's event, which is an annual fundraiser to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, is going to be different than previous years, as the Advocates organization will not be out at the Carson River with an illuminated path.
Due to COVID-19, the Light after Dark Walk and Run has changed direction and is going virtual.
Advocates encourages individuals, family, friends and children to unite virtually on Saturday for physical outdoor activity — or at home — while helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in the Carson City area.
You can walk, run, jog, hike, bike, use your treadmill — you get to pick your route and complete the 3.1 miles and beyond. While you are completing your miles, take some photos and tag Advocates to End Domestic Violence on Facebook using No. LAD2020.
Organizers will be looking for all the fun photos of supporters helping victims light the way. Race packets can be picked up at Classy Seconds, 3590 Gordon Street, Carson City, on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. If you have questions, please call Traci at 883-7654.
You can register for the race at https://www.active.com/running/virtual-events/light-after-dark-2020 or stop by Classy Seconds. Registration is $35 for adults, $15 for children, and $10 for Carson High School students and faculty.
