Notice is hereby given that Carson City will conduct a public meeting and information session on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. (All meetings will be online, please see directions below), in order review the application process for the COIVD-19, CDBG-CV, II & III, State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) Program and to solicit citizen input on possible activities to be included in the application.

Fall train rides, 'Light after Dark' fitness event, live music and more highlight Carson City area weekend events

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. Douglas County Sheriff walks back threats to no longer respond to Library's emergency calls due to Black Lives Matter support

UPDATE 6:23PM: On July 28, 2020 the Douglas County Library Director Amy Dodson and Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley met to discuss the Douglas County Public Library’s proposed statement of diversity. The library board was scheduled to discuss the statement at a public meeting scheduled for July 28, 2020. Sheriff Coverley submitted a written letter for public comment in opposition of the statement.

Sun Valley Man sentenced to 45 years to Life in Prison for sexual abuse of two children in Washoe County

Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks has announced that a Sun Valley man has been sentenced to life in prison following convictions on child sexual abuse charges.

Patrick Ian Brymer, 27, was sentenced in District Court last week to life in prison with the possibility of parole after a minimum of 45 years has been served.

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Dayton man jailed for suspected child pornography charges, video surfaces on social media

On March 15, 2020, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified of a child pornography video posted to a social media account.

Deputies responded and contacted the reporting party. CCSO detectives were requested and launched an investigation. The subsequent investigation determined that a Snapchat user posted a sexually graphic video to his account and the video was made public for the suspect’s followers to view.

Carson City man pleads in child sex assault case, faces 5 years to life in prison

A Carson City man has pled no contest to one count of battery with the intent to commit sexual assault on a child under 16, a Category A felony, punishable by a term of maximum of life with a minimum parole eligibility of 5 years.
