Adele's of Carson City a finalist for Restaurateur of the Year
Chef Charlie Abowd was named finalist for Restaurateur of the Year by the Nevada Restaurant Association Thursday at the annual Culinary Excellence Awards Gala in Las Vegas.
His mother, Adele, was honored Thursday with a lifetime achievement award by the NvRA.
An earlier version of this story had said that he had won. He was a finalist. Abowd was among just three nominees statewide, Nevada Grown posted on Adele's Facebook page, and the only one from Northern Nevada.
"Way to go, Charlie!" Nevada Grown wrote. "The Restaurateur of the Year Award honors an individual who operates an outstanding business, is a role model, demonstrates community involvement, and advances the industry as a whole."
Abowd, along with his wife, Karen, is the current owner of a family restaurant whose legacy goes back nearly 40 years when his parents, Paul and Adele Abowd, established it in 1977.
Charlie Abowd is a fourth-generation family chef.
Adele's serves its award-winning cuisine out of a vintage restored 1864 Comstock Mansart Victorian era home located at 112 N. Carson Street at the corner of John Street.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and for dinner on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. The lounge is open until 10 p.m.
