Tornado in Washoe Valley?
A reader emailed that Doppler radar had picked up the signature of a tornado in Washoe Valley last night at about 7:30 p.m. Being originally from Kansas and enduring years of Wizard of Oz jokes, of course I was interested. Here is the video he sent of the radar:

Update: We received the following from Shane Snyder from the National Weather Service:
"There was definitely a moderate circulation (mesocyclone) with a storm just north of Washoe Lake at 729 PM. I have attached an image of the radar reflectivity for you. We had no reports of anything...however, it was probably dark by that time and the circulation was in the foothills north of the Mt Rose Highway (no witnesses!). So it was definitely possible that a brief weak tornado occurred but I cannot confirm with no spotter evidence."
