NV Energy: More than 2,400 without power in Dayton area
UPDATE THURSDAY: NV Energy reports power was fully restored by 11:50 p.m. Wednesday. And that it has narrowed down the cause of the outage to faulty ground cables. Go here for the update.
UPDATE: As of 10:03 p.m. NV Energy reports 1,168 customers were without power in Lyon County, in three outage areas around Dayton. The cause of the outage remains under investigation. Power should be fully restored by 12:45 a.m.

More than 2,400 NV Energy customers in the Dayton area are without power on this Wednesday night. The outage struck the area just after 8 p.m.
The outage is widespread, affecting at least 5 different transformer locations around town. NV Energy is investigating the cause of the outage.
NV Energy notes an estimated time to have power restored is around 12:45 a.m.
The Dayton area experienced a similar outage on July 16, 2015. In that outage, there were also around 2,400 customers that went without power.
Earlier today a gas leak forced the evacuation of some homes and businesses in the area of Occidental and Riverboat in the Dayton area.
The incident happened at around 11:50 a.m. when a piece of construction equipment cut a 2-inch high pressure gas line at the intersection of Occidental and Riverboat. Evacuations were initially ordered through the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and the Fire Department.
