Clear Creek fire fully contained
Firefighters were able to fully contain the Clear Creek fire by 7 p.m. Friday night, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
There will be a Type 4 Incident Comander, 2 crews and an engine working and monitoring the Clear Creek fire today. The 187-acre fire on the south side of Highway 50 west, is believed to have started by a lightning strike on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, crews continue containment and mop up efforts on Swauger Fire, 10 miles north of Bridgeport in California. The fire was 40 percent contained Saturday morning. It is on Humboldt –Toiyabe National Forest and after more accurate mapping, is now 87 acres.
The fire started at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Thursday, July 17. There are currently 5 structures threatened and there has been 1 firefighter injury reported. The fire is burning in timber and brush.
Approximately 330 personnel, 3 helicopters, 1 air attack, 3 seats, 2 water tenders, 10 hand crews and 6 engines are dedicated to firefighting activities. Fire crews continue to make significant progress on the fire, despite working in steep terrain. In addition to working on containment, crews will be focusing today on mop up 100 feet in and extinguishing all hot spots within the burned area.
Crews will also focus suppression efforts on the new start from yesterday, the Fales Fire, which is now a part of the Swauger Fire Complex.
