Carson City deputies arrest 11 teens at underage marijuana and booze party

Carson City Sheriff Office deputies broke up a large underage alcohol and marijuana party at a home Saturday night occupied by dozens of juveniles, issuing a handful of citations and making 11 arrests for obstructing officers, curfew violation and minor consuming.

The owners of the Shadowridge Drive home were out of town at the time of the incident, reported late Saturday night, according to Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Nate Brehm. Two female juveniles were transported to the hospital for alcohol intoxication and were released to their parents.

Deputies arrived at the home after dispatch received reports of the large party. Officers observed at least 35 to 40 juveniles inside and outside the home. Officers made contact with the female juvenile teen who lived at the home. She was cooperative and let deputies inside, said Sgt. Brehm.

The female teen whose house the party was at said she invited a couple friends over but word got out there was a party at the home and soon multiple teenagers began arriving.

Officers found several bottles of hard alcohol that were stolen earlier in the evening from Walmart, as well as marijuana and paraphernalia. An ounce of marijuana was recovered, as well as assorted bongs and glass pipes, said Brehm.

Deputies arrested 11 juveniles for curfew, minor consuming and obstructing. Among the arrests were a handful of teens who barricaded themselves in one of the bedrooms of the home and would not come out, placing furniture and a mattress against the door.

One teen was found hiding in a crawlspace. He was discovered after deputies learned he took a picture of himself hiding in the crawlspace and posted it on Snapchat. Another male juvenile climbed onto the roof of the home and had to be rescued by Carson City Fire Department.

Several parents were contacted by deputies and arrived at the east Carson City home to pick their children up. The teens whose parents were unavailable and could not be contacted were taken to the juvenile detention center.

The parents of the teen girl who threw the party were out of town at the time. Deputies made contact with the homeowners after they arrived a couple hours later.
