Carson City fire crews were called Tuesday morning to a reported brush fire at the Carson City landfill off of Highway 50 East.
The call came to dispatch at 10:30 a.m. of a reported brush fire burning in the area of the Carson City landfill, located in the 3600 block of Flint Road off of Highway 50 East.
The fire is reported to be in the middle of a trash pile, reported to be 20 by 20 feet in size, considered a "spot" fire and putting out smoke and flames. A battalion chief on scene reports a large column of smoke and has called for additional resources.
Traffic into the landfill has been rerouted to another dump site until firefighters can get a handle on the situation.
