Cafe at Adele's Receives Two Top Honors, Other Carson Businesses Also Recognized
Café at Adele’s in Carson city recently received a Certificate of Excellence as one of TripAdvisor ‘s 2014 winners and was also recognized in the Don’t Forget to Share category, which recognizes a business that has made significant contributions to the community and prides itself on giving back, in Nevada Business Magazine’s 2014 Family-owned Businesses Awards, sponsored by Nevada State Bank.
TripAdvisor awards are given to businesses worldwide and are based on the quality of reviews and opinions they have earned in the preceding year.
"TripAdvisor is pleased to honor exceptional hospitality businesses for consistent excellence," said Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for Business. "The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most - their customers … we want to applaud exceptional hospitality businesses for offering TripAdvisor travelers a great customer experience."
“The TripAdvisor award is significant in that it is based solely on how well our customers, many of them visitors to Carson City, feel we are doing and serves as a reminder that excellence counts,” said Charlie Abowd, chef and co-owner of Café at Adele’s with his wife Karen Abowd.
Nevada Business Magazine’s award and simply being among the nominees is a great honor, Abowd said.
“Carson City was well represented in the list of nominees and speaks well of the kinds of folks who live here, do business here, and I hope this will inspire the birth of new business and encourage others to consider relocating here,” Abowd said. “As far as giving back, Karen and I just do what we do because we believe it’s the right thing and part of why we’re on earth … to be recognized is humbling.”
Other Carson City winners for Nevada Business Magazine’s awards included Critical Tattoo, Whippersnapper category for a business less than 10 years old; Little Smudgeez, Protector category for a business that has made significant efforts to go green and reduce the company’s carbon footprint; Comma Coffee, Swimming Upstream category for a minority- or woman-owned business; and ABC Heating & Sheet Metal, Change is Good category, for a business that has moved on to the second generation or further, and has successfully used the younger generation’s ideas.
