Industrial Art: Sports Edition
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 06/04/2017 - 10:24amEmbracing the area's manufacturing community, the Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] announces its exhibition, "Industrial Art: Sports Edition", at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery from June 9 – September 28, 2017. CCAI will host a reception for the show on Friday, June 9, 5-7pm including a short introduction of the exhibition participants at 5:30pm. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
Carson High School CTE’s new manufacturing instructor works with area manufacturers
Submitted by editor on Tue, 07/05/2016 - 10:58amJohn Doiron, Carson High School’s Career and Technical Education’s new manufacturing instructor, stood in front of the Carson City Area Manufacturers Forum in early June to outline his plan for the manufacturing program and to ask for their support in sharing their knowledge to develop curriculum, being guest speakers in class and inviting students in to their facilities for field trips, internships and other work-based learning experiences.
Area students combine high school, college and internships to meet skilled worker demand
Submitted by editor on Sun, 03/13/2016 - 9:24amWilliam Dakota Gershel and Timothy Ibarra, both seniors at Carson High School, have participated in Career and Technical Education programs since attending CHS as freshman. Ibarra participated in two years of auto technician courses and two years in auto body courses. Gershel experimented in a variety of CTE courses including culinary, web design and welding.
CCAI Industrial Art at the Library
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 09/28/2015 - 2:05pmEmbracing the area's design and manufacturing community, the Capital City Arts Initiative's [CCAI] exhibition, Industrial Art, is now at the Carson City Library. The show, previously at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, will be available at the Library through November 19.
The Library will host a public reception for Industrial Art on Friday, October 2, 3:30-5pm in honor of Manufacturer's Month [October]. The Library’s MT1 training room and the Digitorium will also feature students’ manufacturing activities during the open house event.

There is chance of rain this afternoon, so spend some time indoors checking out the new exhibit in the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. ‘Industrial Art’ presents the design work of five manufacturers in the the area including American AVK, CGI Inc., Click Bond Inc., Silver State Stainless, and Vineburg Machining Inc. The official opening reception is Friday at 5 p.m. Or enjoy the art at the Nevada Arts Council, inside the BRIC building on Proctor, inside the Sierra Room of the Community Center, or in the two galleries at the Brewery Arts Center.

- One Putt Jr. Academy at Silver Oak Golf Course (7:45am sign in, 8am-10am; $40 per class or $200 for six classes: includes Green Fees, Pull Cart, Golf Clubs, Gatorade; space limited, ages 7-12)
