Kids invited to Empty Bowls Project Friday at Children's Museum
Project Carson City Empty Bowls Event will be featured at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada on Friday, with free admission to the first 15 kids that make a bowl.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is sponsored by Deloitte Consulting. It is opened to all ages. Adults welcome. The Children's Museum is located at 813 N Carson St, Carson City.
Deloitte Consulting is providing 10 volunteers and have purchased 600 pounds of clay for this year's bowl making events. They have also sponsored a day camp coming in to the museum for a day and do a charity event every year on the first Friday of June.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger and was created by The Imagine Render Group. The basic premise is simple: Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls.
Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity. In Carson City it is FISH.
