Northern Pike tourney at Comins Lake
If you’re looking for something totally different to do this weekend in the fishing world, you might want to take the long trip to Ely and be a contestant in a Northern Pike fishing derby at nearby Comins Lake.
Comins Lake is located just several miles out of Ely; it contains Northern Pike, some Largemouth Bass and perhaps even a few leftover rainbows.
The Pike were illegally introduced into Comins some years ago and have virtually wiped out all other species with their voracious appetites.
The historic Hotel Nevada in Ely is sponsoring a one day (dawn to dusk) tourney on Sunday, May. 27. There is an entry fee of $15 per person, with proceeds to be distributed as additional prize monies.
The Hotel will pay $3 a pound for each Pike that is caught. In addition, it will pay $250 for the largest (by weight) Pike that is caught.
There will be a bonus of $250 for the largest (by weight) Largemouth Bass that is caught. The Bass do not qualify for the $3 a pound bonus.

01. Minimum age to qualify for cash prizes is 18.
02. Cash prizes to be redeemed at the Hotel Nevada cashier’s cage.
