More valley rain and Sierra snow expected Thursday and Friday
Another spring storm will bring snow to higher elevations in the Sierra Thursday through Friday and rain to the Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Expect winter driving conditions and possible chain controls over Sierra passes, especially at night or during heavier snow showers. Higher elevation routes including Sonora, Tioga, Ebbetts and Monitor passes may be closed later this week and possibly into the weekend.
Anyone planning outdoor activities in the Sierra or western Nevada should expect colder temperatures, rain and high elevation snow, with isolated thunderstorms possible, according to the weather service.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, windy conditions will continue overnight tonight, with a slight chance of showers Wednesday and rain likely for Thursday and Friday as the storm system moves in. Daytime highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
