Carson City man booked on 26 new charges related to weekend graffiti spree
A 27-year-old Carson City man arrested this week on suspicion of graffiti tagging, faces 26 additional charges after being connected to at least 23 different incidents around Carson City that caused $3,600 in damage, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
The suspect and a 22-year-old accomplice were arrested early Monday morning in the 3100 block of Imperial Way. At the time of the arrest the 27-year-old suspect told a Carson City deputy that he had recently been fired from his job and was “acting out.”
The graffiti spree began over the weekend. The areas of vandalism happened on private property with nine victims and on Carson City property. The vandalism spanned from College Parkway and Carson Street to College Parkway and Emerson streets, according the arrest report.
A warrant was granted to search the residence of the 27-year-old suspect, a confirmed member of a local gang, and photographs were taken as evidence, according to the arrest report. The new charges accuse the man of 25 new graffiti charges, all misdemeanors, and one count destruction of property, a gross misdemeanor.
This is in addition to charges of DUI, driving on a revoked license and open container. Bail amount is $3,000 cash only for being arrested while on probation and $19,062 for the graffiti charges.
In other arrests:
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 4600 block of South Edmonds Drive on suspicion of two counts domestic battery, a Carson City sherif’s deputy said. According to the arrest report the suspect turned 21 on Tuesday and had been drinking. He allegedly punched, slapped and pushed his mother into a wall and then punched the woman’s husband in the head and kicked him when he tried to get the man to stop. Bail: $6,274.
— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on two misdemeanor warrants, one issued from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the other the Nevada Highway Patrol. Bail: $1,910.
