Upcoming Easter egg hunts around Carson City this week

Easter is this upcoming weekend, which means there will be a lot of small children, colored eggs, pastel colors, bunnies, candy, and festive spirits to be had. But Easter Sunday isn't the only day for egg hunts. Here's a list of upcoming egg-related activities for Carson City residents.

Family Fun at Easter Fiesta on Saturday, April 20 at WNC

Celebrate the Easter season with friends and family at Western Nevada College. The Second Year Nursing Club at WNC and National Student Nurses Association will host the annual Easter Fiesta on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rotary Plaza on the Carson City campus, 2201 West College Parkway.

Highlights include a 1 p.m. egg scramble on John L. Harvey Field and an opportunity to have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny.

There will also be face painting, a coloring contest, piñatas, limbo, musical chairs and more. Activity tickets are $1 each and $5 for 6.

- Carson City Parks and Recreation is hosting an Underwater Egg Hunt, 2 p.m. Saturday April 20.

Join Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space as they go on an egg hunt at the Carson City Aquatic Facility, 841 North Roop Street on Saturday, April 20. Some eggs will be floating on top of the pool, some will be at the bottom of the pool. Egg hunts will be separated by age group in various pools at the Carson Aquatic Facility. The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Registration is required in advance this year.

The event is free and open to children up to 12-years of age. Children 6 and under must be with a participating adult. Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space thanks Carson City Toyota for sponsoring this event.

- The Nevada State Railroad Museum is opening its doors Saturday and Sunday, April 20 - 21, for Egg Hunts, train rides, photos with Mr. Easter Bunny himself, and more.

It's "all aboard" at the Nevada State Railroad Museum located at 2180 S Carson St.

There will be train rides on the Edwards Motor Car and egg hunts, photos with the Easter Bunny and other activities for children to highlight the railroad museum’s second annual “Egg-stra Special Express."

Festivities both days start at 10 a.m. with rides aboard the 1926 Edwards Motor Car.

Museum admission is $6 for adults; free for children 17 and younger. Motor car prices are $4 for ages 12 and older; $2 for children 4-11 and free for children 3 and younger.

The outdoor Easter egg hunts, held in the park at the Railroad Museum, are free and are divided by age groups. At 11 a.m., ages 1-4 participate (one adult per child is allowed in the egg area); while children 5 and older start their egg hunt at 1 p.m.

Story time activities take place inside the Jacobsen Interpretive Center at the museum with sessions at noon and 2 p.m. Storytime Photography will be offering printed photos with the Easter Bunny for $10.

Art activities for youngsters are available in the museum all day long.

- The South Valley Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the Washoe State Park, with park fees waived for the day.

The Easter Bunny arrives at noon and the hunt starts at 12:30 p.m. sharp. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Park entrance is free for this event!

WHEN: Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: Take Exit 44 from I-580 and drive north approximately four miles on Eastlake Blvd. The park entrance will be on your left. Turn left past the fee booth. The event is held at the group use pavilion (2nd parking lot on the right) and additional parking is available.

COST: Park entrance fees are waived for this event.

- The Carson Mall is hosting an Easter Candy Walk April 20 from 1 - 5 p.m.

The Carson Mall is located at 1313 South Carson Street.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and will need to check in at the registration booth. There will be bags and tickets for each store drawing.

In addition, photos with the Easter Bunny will be available for purchase beginning at 10 a.m.

There will also be an Easter Craft and Gift Show happening in the center of the mall.
