Nevada fire marshal investigators ask for public's help identifying Fernley arson suspect
CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Public Safety, State Fire Marshal Division, is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect believed to be involved in a recent fire in the Fernley area.
On March 12, 2019, at around 1:30 a.m., security cameras recorded an individual on and around the City of Fernley’s Shop and Garage located at the Out of Town Park.
The suspect was recorded entering the City of Fernley’s property by climbing over a fence, remaining on the property as smoke became visible from one of the security cameras and walking around the property at approximately 2:20 a.m.
Security camera footage shows that a few minutes later the smoke appeared to lessen, the suspect re-entered the property and shortly after heavy smoke is visible. The suspect is believed to have left the area at approximately 2:35 to 2:40 a.m..
The suspect is male, appears to be in his early 20s and may have a tattoo on the right side of his neck and a star tattoo on the front of his right waistline.
Charges for the suspect arrested for intentionally starting the Fernley fire will include:
— Arson 1st Degree (NRS 205.010) Felony
— Injury to property (value of loss at least $5,000) (NRS 206.310) Felony
— Injury to property (value of loss at $250 but below $5,000) (NRS 206.310) Gross Misdemeanor
— Trespass (NRS 207.200) Misdemeanor
