Carson City Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers receive training this week

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office reports Monday that a tricycle that was stolen earlier this month from a handicapped man who used it as his only mode of transportation was recovered in Carson City by a member of the community.

A Carson City resident checking their overnight outdoor surveillance camera found a visitor in their backyard garden early Monday, a very large bear, apparently looking for food.

Wednesday night in Carson City, for the players, raising money never felt so good. "It was amazing. It was a great atmosphere," said Angila Golik, Carson High teacher.

UPDATE 1:04AM: A standoff with Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies at an Etta Place residence in which a man threatened to "go out in a blaze of glory" and shoot officers ended safely just before 12:30 a.m., said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Organized by Junior Ramirez, a member of Carson Futbol Club, soccer players from around the region gathered Saturday at Carson High School for a tournament to benefit students injured in the Nov. 9 vehicle crash on Kings Canyon Road. It was the second tournament fundraiser.

Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District christened Marine 24 earlier this month, giving Lake Tahoe its first year-round firefighting boat. At a cost of nearly $500,000, the vessel is able to fight fires from on board as well as piping water from the lake into water tenders.

Two were arrested early Saturday morning for suspicion of meth possession and possession with intent to sell, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
