Capital Community Band presents free Dec. 3 holiday concert at Bob Boldrick Theatre
The Capital Community Band, under the direction of Richard Doede, will tie a big red bow around 2017 by presenting a Patriotic and Holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017. The free concert will be presented in the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson Community Center.
Enjoy seasonal favorites, marches and patriotic music played by our 45 member band. The concert begins at 3 p.m.
The American Red Cross March by Louis Panella will honor the work of the Red Cross since 1881. Panella was born in 1881, the same year the American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton.
He wrote this march in 1918 in recognition of the help they provided during in World War 1. This is the 100th anniversary of the U.S. participation in WW1. Next November we will celebrate the end of the war. The band will also perform a medley of World War 1 songs.
The band will also have a little fun playing “Lawrence Milk Plays Guy Lombago”, a spoof on the Lawrence Welk days complete with bubbles. A “Jingle Bell Fantasy” and a Christmas medley including Oh, Come All Ye Faithful,We Three Kings and other holidays favorites will also be included. A tribute to our servicemen and veterans will end the concert.
This concert is perfect for the whole family and a great way to begin your holiday season. And it is free!
The Capital City Community Band was founded in 1978 by the director, Richard Doede as a venue for adult musicians in which to perform. Many of the members played in high school, college and beyond, professionally. Others began playing as adults. All the musicians, including the director and soloists, perform without monetary compensation. We just enjoy sharing our music with others and hope you enjoy our efforts.
