Carson City weather: Mostly dry, sunny and seasonable for Thanksgiving holiday travelers
This Thanksgiving week will bring partly to mostly sunny skies and dry conditions for the Carson City region, according to the National Weather Service. Those traveling for the holiday can expect much of the same throughout the West with some rain in the Pacific Northwest.
The best travel weather is expected if you’re heading south or east into Utah, Arizona, or southern portions of California and Nevada, as dry and warm conditions will prevail for the upcoming week.
If you’re heading north or west into Oregon, be prepared for areas of rain Monday and again from Thursday through Sunday. Periods of heavier rain are possible over northwest California and southwest Oregon through the four day holiday weekend.
Snow levels are expected to be quite high with winter travel conditions unlikely for the main passes, although it is always a good idea to keep chains and extra food and water in your vehicle in case your travel plans are delayed. Go here for a customizable travel forecast.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, we can expect mostly cloudy skies Monday, partly sunny skies Tuesday, mostly sunny skies Wednesday and Thursday and partly sunny skies through the weekend with a slight chance of rain on Friday. Highs will be in the high 50s to mid 60s for most of Western Nevada.
If you're headed to Lake Tahoe for Thanksgiving, expect sunny skies and seasonable temperatures, with highs in the upper 50s for much of the week.
