It's Your City: Muscle Powered launches 'zombie texting' distracted driving video contest
This week's edition of It's Your City with Cortney Bloomer features Kelly Clark, president of Muscle Powered, a Carson City area bicycle and pedestrian advocacy nonprofit organization.
Kelly and Cortney talk about the organization's nearly 20 years and its coming anniversary celebration next year. Muscle Powered is a volunteer organization that has been behind hundreds of projects and programs, from weekly hikes and bike rides, to trail building, infrastructure advocacy for trails, bike lanes and sidewalks.
See the video below or watch it here.
This year Muscle Powered was named a finalist in the Governor's Point of Light Award.
Kelly also talks about an upcoming PSA safety video competition open to all Carson City area school students, designed to get people to stop texting and driving.
The grand prize is $750 for the first place team that produces a 30-second video on the dangers of "zombie" texting while driving. The application and video flier can be found at MusclePowered.org. The deadline is April 10, 2018.
This week's edition of It's Your City is sponsored by Paradise Salon, Spa and Wellness, located at 3430 Executive Pointe Way.
