V&T Railway begins early bookings for 2020 season: Steam trains, wine and beer tours, Polar Express and more

CARSON CITY — On the heels of an incredibly successful 2019 season and due to popular demand, V&T Railway has begun early ticket sale booking for the 2020 season. As with prior seasons, the 2020 season will include vintage steam train rides from Carson City to Virginia City, Toast of the Canyon wine and beer trains and the popular Polar Express in addition to other themed and special event trains.

“With our 2020 season starting in May, we want to provide our passengers an opportunity to plan ahead for their upcoming vacations by offering an earlier opportunity to purchase tickets,” said Elaine Barkdull-Spencer, general manager for the V&T Railway. “In addition to the popular rides our passengers love, we are looking forward to announcing specialty themed-rides later this season, each with a unique theme perfect for a night out or the entire family.”

The regular season, which runs from May until October, will kick off with a Mother’s Day steam train from Carson City to Virginia City. The season will also include special event trains to celebrate holidays such as Memorial Day and Father’s Day, Toast of the Canyon trains every other weekend beginning in June and specialty themed trains into the Carson River Canyon. In November, V&T will kick off its annual Polar Express train which run from November 20 through Christmas Eve. Guests can also purchase gift cards year-round that can be used towards any ride of the season.

All regular season train rides will feature restored 1914 Pullman coaches, led by a steam locomotive, giving guests a truly authentic Old Western experience. During each ride, passengers can expect to see Nevada’s historic and treasured views, from the Virginia Mountain range to the Carson River Canyon. Just a short drive from Carson City, V&T is located off of Flint Road at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road.

About V&T Railway
V&T Railway, located at4650 Eastgate Siding Road in Carson City, Nev. is a partially government funded, historical railroad that invites guests of any age to enjoy a journey into rich Nevada history. With reconstruction efforts beginning in the early 1990’s, the State of Nevada set up a commission to rebuild the line, operating today as the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railway. Throughout the following decade, the commission was able to restore 16-miles of track from Gold Hill into the Carson River Canyon, giving the railway the opportunity for more diverse trains.

The rail continues to operate its regular season from May through mid-October, with fully narrated roundtrip train rides from Carson City to Virginia City offering scenic routes and historic sites. The train also features various special events including Toast of the Canyon wine and beer trains and the wildly popular Polar Express.
