Residents urged to report suspicious activity following Dayton Valley car break-ins
On the night of Sept. 25-26, 10 cars on the Greyhawk corrider in the Dayton Valley Country Club were rifled through by several young men. The thieves walked along the corridor testing the doors of cars parked in drive-ways. If unlocked, the cars were rifled for valuables. Items stolen were small electronics, like GPS systems, cash, or other items.
Lyon County Sheriff's Department Deputy Huizar investigated. He found that the thieves entered the complex by climbing over a chain-link fence at the West end of the development, and when finished with their thievery, returned there, climbed back over the fence with their loot, and left on an off-road vehicle.
Video of the thieves was taken by security system cameras, and is being examined by the authorities. Fingerprints, foot prints, and tire tracks were also left by the thieves.
Hopefully, by giving this information to the DVCC community and the public, there will be a chance that someone saw some suspicious activity which will help catch these thieves, and/or prevent such incidents from happening again. The thieves apparently knew there were surveillance cameras at the entry gates, and thus, chose the fence-climbing route to avoid detection. Here's to stopping "them" from trying this again.
